Starting out

Wednesday night we loaded the bus to begin a new adventure and what an adventure it has been so far.

After traveling all night, we arrived in Denver Thursday morning nearly two hours ahead of schedule.  Can you imagine 42 people on one bus stopping only twice in twelve hours with one being a breakfast stop?  Luckily we found a Starbucks and Caribou coffee ready to take us all on.

Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception

Since we had arrived so early and not being able to get into the Basilica, the hostess at the church took us to her condo where we could change and the kids could warm up for their performance   She was a wonderful hostess inviting us up to see her 800 square foot living space on the 20th floor in downtown Denver.  The view was stunning!

We were finally able to head to the church and jaws dropped as we walked through the doors.  The white marble, the stained glass windows, and the beautiful pipe organ were beyond anyone's imagination!  The sound from the choir was just as stunning as their voices rang on and on.  They sang for the noon mass and sang a few selections after the service for a crowd of about 100 people.

Winter Park, Colorado

We arrived at our condos in Winter Park mid afternoon on Thursday.  By the time we got our ski supplies rented and dinner which was provided by Hy-Vee, some enjoyed the hot tub but many just crashed.  Beds don't feel as good as they do after traveling and sleeping in a charter bus.

Friday

Friday was the start to our ski adventures.  Most of us, many who have never tried to ski before, grabbed the skis and headed for the mountain.  We all started the day with lessons and after lunch we ventured off on our own.  For some of us it was more of an adventure than what we were expecting but everyone had a great day.

We just returned from dinner together at Hernando's pizza where the choir, after amazing pizza and cake for two birthday girls in our group, blessed the dinner crowd and staff with song.

We are all resting quietly (hopefully) now waiting for the performance time tonight.  We will leave here at 9:00pm to head to Middle Park High School for the competition.   Please think of the kids at 10:20 (11:20 Springfield time) as they sing for the judges.

That's all I have for now.  We will keep you posted with more adventures and performance results as we go.  Have a wonderful weekend, I know we all will!
