We are attending the awards ceremony at 6:15 pm and heading back to Missouri following. It has been such a GREAT weekend. I know that many formerly non-skiers in our group are ready to take up a new hobby (sorry parents)! I am so pleased to be the director of this fine group of students. It is sad that our adventure is coming to an end but we aren't finished for the year. I'll post the results of awards ceremony on facebook, but I'm not sure I will be on the internet until we reach Springfield so this may be it for the blog. I will post more pictures in the photo gallery tomorrow!
Mr. C The Chamber Choir performance tonight was OUTSTANDING! The choir was focused on their job, committed to excellence, and provided an exhilarating and dramatic performance (judges comments, not mine!). In doing so we were awarded a One rating from each of our judges with an average score of 95.5 out of 100. We will learn of any trophies and placing tomorrow at the awards ceremony. However, with the difficulty of music and the passion of their performance tonight, their director is already VERY proud.
Good night! Hello! We did it! The Riddle family provided their room for the bagels this morning DONATED to us by Panera Bread! We met at 8:30 am, handed out lift passes, and headed for ski class. The instructors spent 2.5 hours with us. It was much more than expected. We began on the bottom of the hill but the instructors actually took us up to the top of the hills and skiied back down with us (4 times for my group) to help, teach, and support us. They were great!
it is 3:30 now and the hills will be closing soon. It is snowing heavily, great day for skiing, reports are anywhere from 3 to 8 inches today. Our instructor said that only tourists here try to predict the weather. We will leave at 6:15 pm for our performance. We sing at 7:20 pm Mountain time!! At 11 pm we will do a room check to be sure that everyone is in their room and ready for sleep. However, I just made a quick sweep at 10:15 pm and most of the kids are ASLEEP ALREADY! We spent the evening in the outdoor hot tubs, the 1/2 indoor 1/2 outdoor pool, and exploring the town of Breckenridge.
In the morning we will have the bagels that were donated to us by Panera Bread beginning at 7:30 am. We will meet in full ski gear at 8:30 am to hand out lift passes and wrist bands and be in ski lessons at 9 am. Those who are not taking lessons can go straight to the hills! Once lessons are over, we all take to the slopes!!! Lunch will be on our own. The ski hill closes at 4 pm. We will be dressed and ready to perform at 5:30 when our boosters supply a second meal for us. We will leave here at 6:15 pm for our performance sight. We warm up at 7 pm and perform at 7:20! More tomorrow, good night! We made it!! We left KHS shortly after midnight and after a long unscheduled stop at a weigh station, some slow moving in the Denver and Mountain areas, and a lot of snoring on the bus we arrived in Breckenridge at 2:30 pm. We spent the next hour and a half unloading the bus, fitting our skis, and finding our rooms. We were fed a GREAT home made meal by the Chappell family and will spend the night exploring the town and lounging around the hot tub and pool area. Pictures will be posted on our Photo Gallery page. More to come later!
