After breakfast this morning and loading the bus, we headed back to Trevecca Nazarene University for the awards ceremony. A little singing all together got the celebration started with Dr. Sharp and Dr. Powell leading the way.
After the ceremony, we loaded back on the bus and are now heading home after an amazing trip. We have all had such a fun time. These kids and chaperones have been such a fun group to travel with. They show respect to everyone they meet, they've all met new friends from other schools around the country, and we couldn't be more proud of how they performed! Incredible experiences for the kids and so many memories made that they will always take with them.
Ok, I know you are all sitting on the edge of your seats asking what awards they are bringing home. Last night, Corn sent a message to the kids, "You created so many special moments for the audience, yourselves, and me. Your attention, musicality, sophistication, everything was impeccable. THIS is what making music is about. Creating special moments with special people that change lives and leave memories. Tomorrow they will give an award to the “winner” but to me the trophy doesn't matter. What you did on those risers tonight matters and we will all cherish THAT far more than any trophy".
If they didn't bring home anything, they bring home memories, once in a lifetime experiences (not many people will have the opportunity to attend a private party when they close down the Parthenon), and they bring home a deeper love of music and closer friends. BUT....that being said, they are coming home with more than just that! They are bringing home TWO beautiful glass trophies!
- "Live performance of a Spiritual" for the performance at the National Museum of African American Music
- "Best Parthenon Festival Performance" as the best performing group in the concert.
We are all so proud of the kids and all the chaperones had a great time on the trip as well. It's been fast, it's been fun, we are all exhausted, and we are coming home! Thanks for another great trip Chamber Choir.
Springfield, we'll see you very soon!
